"Kung Fu Panda" Director at Quartz Mountain
John Stevenson at Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute
John Stevenson, the Academy Award-nominated director of the hit film "Kung Fu Panda" will be in residence at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI). Stevenson is teaching OSAI film/video students and will give a free public presentation on Friday, June 18 entitled "Muppets, Monsters, and Me." Read Story

2010 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Students Selected
Students Represent More Than 60 Communities Across Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Arts Institute has announced the students selected for the 2010 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. Selected through a competitive audition process, the students hail from more than 60 cities and towns across Oklahoma. Out of a record number of over 1,400 applicants, 270 students were selected to attend, with approximately 100 students selected as alternates. In conjunction with acceptance, each student receives a full scholarship to the program worth over $2,000. Download Student List (Excel File)

Arts Institute Fund Drive Kicks Off Tuesday
Helps Bring Grammy, Emmy Award Winners to Quartz Mountain
The annual Oklahoma Arts Institute Fund Drive kicks off Tuesday, April 20 in Altus. The fund drive benefits the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI), a prestigious academy for Oklahoma high schools students held every June. This year's program will bring Grammy and Emmy Award winning artists to Quartz Mountain to teach and present free public performances. Altus High School students always take part in the program, with the 2010 students set to be announced soon. The Fund Drive provides essential support for OSAI programs, performances, and student scholarships. Read Story
"Tour de Quartz" at Oklahoma City Museum of Art
Work by Oklahoma Arts Institute Students on Display
The Oklahoma City Museum of Art will host the Oklahoma Arts Institute’s "Tour de Quartz" from Thurs., March 25 – Sun., May 9. The exhibition features paintings and photographs produced during the Summer Arts Institute, a prestigious two-week academy held at Quartz Mountain in June. Auditions begin this weekend at locations across the state for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute Kicks Off This Weekend
Football isn't the only thing that kicks off this fall. For hundreds of artists, fall marks their annual pilgrimage to Quartz Mountain for the Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute, even if it means missing a home game or two. The program's opening weekend begins on Thurs., Oct. 29, and artists and educators from across the state will participate in workshops in the literary, visual, and performing arts taught by nationally renowned artists. Oklahoma Arts Institute to Receive Governor's Arts Award
The Oklahoma Arts Institute will be honored by Governor Brad Henry at the 34th Annual Governor’s Arts Awards. The Oklahoma Arts Institute will receive the Arts & Education Award that recognizes an individual, organization, school, educator or group for their outstanding leadership and service in the arts benefitting youth and/or arts in education. Artwork by 10 Tulsa-area students is on display at the Gilcrease Museum from Oct. 13 – Nov. 8. The students created the artwork during the 2009 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain, a prestigious academy held in June. Quartz Mountain Inspires Artists of All Ability Levels
Turn over a new leaf this fall at the Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OFAI). Educators and artists of all ability levels can attend four-day weekend retreats taught by nationally renowned artists in the visual, literary and performing arts. Oklahoma public school educators automatically receive full scholarships to the program, including tuition, room and board, funded by the State Department of Education and private donors. Read Story

The Lachenmeyer Art Center is the first to host the Oklahoma Arts Institute’s Tour de Quartz. The exhibition features drawings and photographs produced by Oklahoma high school students during the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. Famous artists from across the U.S. are traveling to Quartz Mountain for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute (OSAI), where they'll mentor and instruct Oklahoma's most talented high school students. The artists include actor John de Lancie of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the percussionist from NBC's Saturday Night Live Band, and bestselling author and former U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins. Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain Chosen as Finalist for Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence Awards
NORMAN, Okla., -- The Oklahoma Arts Institute has been selected as a finalist for the 2009 Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence (ONE) Awards as one of the top arts and humanities organizations in the state. The Oklahoma Arts Institute has a chance to win up to $10,000 out of a total of $160,000 that will be awarded to ONE Awards winners and finalists. Read Story
