Acting
*** New Requirements This Year!!! ***

Students study character development, motivation, and analysis of intentions and objectives. The daily schedule includes voice and movement class. Students rehearse and perform an ensemble workshop production. Applicants should be aware that classes are on a collegiate level and may contain mature subject matter. Up to 18 students are accepted.

Application Requirements

1) As soon as possible, call the Oklahoma Arts Institute office at (405) 321-9000 to schedule attendance at one of the auditions. Audition spaces fill quickly, and video tapes are not accepted as a substitute for live auditions.

2) Download and submit a complete application.

At the Audition:

Please arrive early to check in, and bring 3 copies of your résumé. The résumé should include acting experience, roles and production titles, drama training, and training in dance, music and voice, if applicable. Headshots are not required.

Participate in a one-minute interview and present two contrasting monologues that last one minute each. The total audition will last three minutes.

Monologue Guidelines:

  • Monologues must be memorized.
  • At least one monologue must be from a contemporary play.
  • Monologues should be suitable to applicant's own age and range of experience.
  • Monologues are limited to one character each and should be delivered in the applicant's natural voice (i.e. no character accents).
  • No costumes or props allowed. A chair is provided.

  • Potential

  • Adjudicators are professional artists and members of the Oklahoma Arts Institute’s Theater Advisory Panel.  The acting program of the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute is endowed by the Sarkeys Foundation Theater Fund.
